A Bit About Enlightened Monkeys Arts

For thirteen years Dave Gordon and Elln Hagney have worked together to bring magical experiences to the public through the creation of major artworks for display and purchase. They have organized exhibitions for galleries, special events, and museums in Boston and Florida.  In 2019  they officially launched Enlightened Monkey Arts to demonstrate the effectiveness of  projection mapping to create mind boggling artistic presentations. The company produces event-based, public, and permanent installations using projection mapping and other technology. Working within each client's budget, they strive to tell each client's unique story and create immersive spectacles that guests/patrons never forget.

As a respected museum and non-profit leader, Elln has been creating immersive interactive experiences for the public for over 35 years. Her innovative approach to devising, implementing, and marketing unique art/cultural/education-based programs and exhibits for museums and non-profits has been recognized by the American Alliance of Museums' Center for the Future of Museums, the State of Massachusetts Small Business Administration, the Olympic Federation of Modern Pentathlon and others.

While serving as Executive Director of the Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation, she transformed the museum into a tech art incubator for emerging artists and design students that resulted in multiple large-scale projection mapped experiences, nationally recognized exhibits, and award-winning programs.

Drawing on her training as a museum designer and her ability to tell stories, her work strives to transport the viewer by creating custom experiences that are at once relatable and intimate.

Dave is a new media and tech artist working with sculpture, digital photography, animation, and electronically mediated interactivity separately and in combination. His work is rooted in notions of collage and assemblage of found objects and concerns itself with technological issues past and present.

Dave has shown his work in galleries regionally and nationally. His animations have won awards internationally. He is the creator and curator of the Eadweard Muybridge Online Archive developed in partnership with the Boston Public Library.  He has taught digital imaging and new media courses in and around Boston and Florida’s Gulf Coast. His career has included artist-in-residencies with the Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation and The Olympian Foundation.

Dave completed his undergraduate work at Oberlin College and received his graduate degree from the Interactive Telecommunication Program (ITP) at the Tisch School of the Arts New York University.
